This is the result of the failure
of Nigeria's educational system which affected every part of the country. A
generation of young men learnt little or nothing of value along the way, they
could only offer violence when democracy became an option in 1998.
The fellow who was buried in a clip widespread on social media (which is all over is reported to be 49 years old which means he was 31 in 1999. The narrator
of all that happened in the Oshodi area of Lagos, a certain Talo (I don't quite understand the
love these people have for nicknames)
said so many things which are anomalies but sound very normal to him.
It's normal for these ones to
have meetings with politicians, it's
normal for them to get paid to do rallies,
it's definitely normal for them to kill and get killed. Bola Ahmed
Tinubu has no doubt helped in feeding these cancer cells but he isn't the only
guilty party. Talo mentioned that he's
always been in the APC camp but lamented that they lost the Oshodi area to
PDP. BAT couldn't have been the
financier of the PDP yoots or could he?
He threw money at them attested to by Talo, he even gave 15million naira to a group that
wasn't going to campaign for him.
Perhaps giving them money was his own way of buying the peace and
preventing bloodshed.
It apparently hasn't worked, it has only bred supposedly wealthy touts and
a host of admirers who are waiting for their day in the sun to takeover the
criminal empire.
These strain of humans can be
found all over Nigeria and in many parts of Africa. They feel entitled and will not mind to kill
for it. They are the guys in Rivers who
will get paid by the politicians there to disrupt elections, they are the folks who will help separatist
and supremacists in the Southeast intimidate the people especially those with
opposing views. They are the guys who
differentiated to terrorists and militants across the country, the offsprings of an unholy affair between
the politicians and false religion.
Just examine the exotic
nature of the late Hamburger's
palace, just checkout the number of
mourners who trooped there to see him buried even according to Islamic rites.
He was practically a government on his street at least, Adedibu-esque, Talo said so.
His children and boys are now orphaned, these boys will most likely be
willing to have blood for blood since their benefactor is now no more.
One agonizing issue is that the
fellow who did the killing, someone who
I understand was friendly with Hamburger will also get a similar number of
mourners and a very Islamic burial if he is equally nailed. The problem isn't religion in my
opinion, it's those who adulterate it
for personal gain. These guys must
patronize 'jazz' for protection yet they will be found donating to religious
houses perhaps to silence their conscience and pay for intercession. It's the same process in the state recently
declared as a 'Christian' state- Rivers by the governor Wike. The same guy caught on tape spewing venom and
threatening to kill INEC officials, pray tell, what is Christan about
that? He built a massive church and
handed the keys to the state's chapter of the Christian association of
Nigeria. They gladly received the
offering and blessed him.
This cancer is unfortunately what
Nigeria has to deal with for now. These
mutated folks won't just vanish from the face of the earth, even if they go ahead to act like it's done
in Chicago, it will take a while for
them to finish imploding.
I am not one who will take an
idealist stance. I have learnt that such
doesn't work in our Nigeria. The brand
of politicians, religious leaders and yoots we have in Nigeria will not
suddenly vanish and a new untainted breed cloned to replace them. In the midst of the chaos are still a remnant
we can hold on to to help steady our ship and steer us away from the
rocks. Those who at least got some
amount of decent education should begin to reason like decent people without
harnessing primitive sentiments of religion or ethnicity. How do we explain Nigerians having sympathy for the actions of Shekau and his metastatic violent
campaign? How do we explain supposedly
educated folks who claim to be peace loving queuing behind a certain Nnamdi
Kanu as the leader, director or
commander of an anticipated breakaway Biafran state despite his vile and
extremely toxic rhetoric? How do we
explain wives and mothers endorsing the actions of these glorified touts in
Lagos?
Many murders in Lagos and Nigeria
are unresolved. Talo gave us an insight
into the symbiotic relationship between the police and crime agonist in Lagos.
Many cops are sustained by the proceeds of crime, this however is not a contraindication for
state policing. The best police forces
in the world have had to deal with corruption and other vices. The commissioner
of police in Lagos state Fatai Owoseni must be very familiar with these touts, he needs to understand that these less than
one percent do not and should not decide the fate and security of the millions
of people in Lagos. He should simply do
his job.
The process of recovering our
nation will be tedious. We should all advocate for the compulsory education of
all our children, we should seal the lips
of those politicians who champion the christianization or islamization of any
state in Nigeria. They have nothing to
offer. Let us support those who still
speak truth and reason, let us desist
from standing behind those who only preach hate and violence. I cannot imagine Talo et al waking up
tomorrow to champion the secession of the Southwest as Odua Republic and people
backing them.
Talo claims he is prostrated
before Hamburger's assailants. He has
pled that his life be spared because of his family, should we join in begging the murderers to
have mercy or should we beg the police or Tinubu to protect him? Where is
Fayose when you need him?
