DISPROVING THE NORTHERN MYTH

DISPROVING THE NORTHERN MYTH

The pay the guys who spread discord get must really be great enough for them to reflexly turn out falsehood without any sense of responsibility.

Ask them who the North are.  Would they be referring to the geographical North of Nigeria or the religious North (my own descriptions)?

Is the North hausa or Fulani?
Is the North all Muslim?

Is the south really all Christian or Catholic?

They insist that some people say "Power must return to the North". ..which North? Does that include the states which were awarded to Jonathan in 2011? The states where plenty Christians reside? The states which Jonathan hopes to win again?  Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Plateau,  Kwara, Adamawa, Kogi? Would it be terrible for Southerners if power went to someone from any of these states?
Or were they not referring to this north or are they looking at another map of Nigeria?

A quick breakdown of the past leaders, their origins and the number of years on the throne.

Balewa 5yrs 3 months Bauchi north

Ironsi roughly 6 months south

Jack Gowon 9 years (Christian) Plateau north.

Murtala  roughly 6.5 months Kano north

Obasanjo 3 years 8 months south

Shagari 4 years 2 months Sokoto north

Buhari roughly 20 months Katsina north

Babaginda 8 years Niger north

Abacha about 4 years 7months Kano north

Abdusalami 11 months Niger north

Obasanjo 8 years south

Yar'adua roughly 2.5 years Katsina north

Jonathan 5 years Bayelsa south.

Of all the years presided over by Northerners; roughly 18 years were by individuals from the north Central region where Jonathan expects to do well especially Plateau where he got over 70% of the votes cast there last time.
If these are not the ones clamouring for a return of power to the north then it should be easy to figure out that the folks they are most likely referring to as desperate for a Northern takeover have only presided for about 17 years and 7 months of the almost 55 since independence. .. Obasanjo alone a southerner had almost 12 years in the saddle while Jonathan IF he gets a 2nd term will have 9 years and 3 months.

Let's assume Jonathan gets till  2019.

That will mean than of the 20 years since democracy was restored since 1999 only 2.5 would have been occupied by a Northerner. ..and a Muslim for that matter.  2.5:17.5, does that sound fair? So based on the rotation formula of the PDP, where do they think the chair will shift to in 2019? Is it not the same north they now chose to discredit because they want to enthrone Jonathan again?  Would it not be a northern Muslim of the same stock as Buhari who they have chosen to vilify and demonise because it suits their narrative?

Are Southern Nigerians going to suddenly stop being fearful of sharia when core northerners take their place to jostle for the presidency?  Would the Southern Christians start to preach another sermon of anti-sharia and look for a Christian southerner to support in order to upset the North and resist sharia?

Jonathan got 22+ million votes to win in 2011. 4.9 each from the SE and SS. 2.7 million from the entire SW which remarkable had all 6 states in the bottom 7 or 8 on the list of percentage voters turnout. Put that together;  that is roughly 12.7 million.  Where did he get the balance of 10 million from? The fishes in the Atlantic ocean?

When it's convenient for them;  them make the primitive statements like the North think they are born to rule and are hell bent on ruling perpetually.  When it's also convenient they say they harbour terrorists and Buhari is responsible for breeding them.  When they remember their worth once in a while,  they patronise the Christian ones amongst them and call them fellow brothers in the north forgetting that the Christian president was busy underestimating the situation when thousands got slaughtered or got carried away without hope. Chibok girls are predominantly Christian yet some would boldly tell you that the entire thing is a hoax despite the president acknowledging this on national TV;  "Christians" o.

Let's assume the North really are desperate to rule and withdraw their votes from Jonathan. ... Is it the South-South and SE votes that install him or will Boyloaf and Tompolo do it by force?

Their wages for these will soon expire.  I advise them to make it count while it lasts.
